Coventry is more than a place on a map.
It is a city built by workers, makers, engineers and families. A city shaped by skill, ambition and sacrifice.
From medieval streets and ancient spires to bicycle factories, motor works and engineering workshops, Coventry helped build modern Britain.
This city was never handed its importance.
Coventry earned it.
On 14 November 1940, Coventry was devastated. Homes, workplaces and historic streets were destroyed. Coventry Cathedral burned.
But the city did not stay down.
The cathedral ruins still stand beside the new cathedral. One reminds us what can be lost. The other shows us what can be rebuilt.
Together, they tell Coventry’s story: not defeat, but renewal.
The phoenix became a symbol of that spirit. Rising from the flames, it represents a city that refused to be defined by destruction.
Rebuilding is not simply part of Coventry’s history.
It is part of who we are.
Today, our city is represented by Coventry East, Coventry North West and Coventry South. Those boundaries may divide us at election time, but they do not divide our identity.
We share the same city. The same streets. The same future.
We want safe neighbourhoods, strong communities, decent homes, opportunities for young people and public services that work.
We want our money respected, our voices heard and our city treated with the pride it deserves.
Coventry should be a home — not a hotel for the world.
But pride in Coventry cannot mean simply looking backwards.
We honour the generations who built and rebuilt this city by deciding what it should become next.
A city where hard work matters.
Where families can put down roots.
Where young people can build a future.
Where leaders answer to the people they serve.
Where no neighbourhood is written off or forgotten.
Coventry’s next chapter will not be written for us.
It will be written street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, by people who refuse to become spectators in their own city.
People prepared to care. To question. To organise. To serve. And, when necessary, to rebuild.
Coventry has risen before.
Like the phoenix, it can rise again.
The next chapter begins with us.
